The Recording In July 2003 we were shacked up in a beautiful wooden cottage near Peat's Ridge (in Australia's NSW central coart) called Buckety's ranch. It wasn't a recording studio ... but a friends forest retreat. I draged all my GTA studio equipment (including Pro Tools HD, Valve mic pre's & the standard beg- borrow-steal set of microphones and studio gadgetory) via 4WD up the steep and muddy track to Bucketty's. After wiring the place up our first approach was to record Panda in 1-2 hour sessions, have a short break and do it again. After a couple of day of this I realised that Panda (not unlike Rolling Stones and Hendrix) were more productive and "loosly tight" when we approached the recording in shorter 30 minute bursts. The band was happy with the result and we believed we had the core tracks for the album. We returned and did in all again, for overdubs, two months later!
