30 November 1854 and the diggers on the Ballaarat
goldfileds meet once again to debate the tyranny of the British colonial
government. Some five hundred armed diggers step forward, electified by
the circumstances, as Lalor kneels before the flag and exclaims in a firm
and measured tone:
"We swear by the Southern Cross to stand truly by each other, and
fight to defend our rights and liberties!"
This project is a colaboration with Ron Thomas (lyricist). Ballaarat -
The Australian Musical is a modern operetta about the events of the Eureka
Stockade as led by Peter Lalor in the 1850's.
