Vintech 473 Four Channel Mic Preamp/EQ

The Vintech Audio 473 features four 1073 style microphone preamplifiers with "essential eq" on every channel. GTA call the high and low shelving eq adjustments "essential" because they really help to enhance certain instruments and impart that magic to the sound like a vintage Neve 1073. Each channel also offers an input sensitivity adjustment allowing up to 70db of gain, an input impedance switch, a mic-line switch, an instrument input and switches for phantom power, phase reverse and eq on or off. GTA guarantee these units to meet your satisfaction or your money back.

Vintech X73 Class A Mic Preamp/EQ

The Vintech Audio X73 is an all-discrete, Class-A microphone preamp with equalizer. Featuring the original circuit design, polystyrene capacitors, and transformers ensures that the X73 sounds exactly like the old Neve 1073. Each unit comes with a one year parts and labor warranty.

Vintech X73i Class A Mic Preamp/EQ

Vintech 1272 Two Channel Mic Preamp

The Vintech Audio "Dual 72" is a two channel class A, all discrete, transformerbalanced microphone preamplifer. It is built with the same basic circuit design and components as the classic Neve 1272 module. This unit features: Input attenuator, output level adjustment, St. Ives input and output transformers. Convenient on board power supply with custom low noise toroidal power transformer. Phase and phantom power switches with LED output level display for each channel. All units come with a one year warranty and a money back guarantee.

Vintech X81 Class A Mic Preamp/EQ

The Vintech X81 - an improvement over the legendary Neve 1081 Pre/EQ. The X81 combines a mic preamp with a 4 band equalizer just like the Neve 1081. However, the Vintech is Class A throughout, whereas the Neve 1081 is Class A/B. What does this mean? This means you get the "color" or the 1081 with the perfermance and clarity of Class A circuitry.

Vintech 273 Two Channel Mic Preamp/EQ

The Vintech Audio model 273 is a stereo set of class A, all discrete, transformer balanced microphone preamplifiers with "essential eq" on each channel. The mic pre's are based on the classic Neve 1073 module.

Vintech 609CA Compressor/ Limiter

GTA are now exclusive dealers for Vintech Audio in Australian & New Zealand. The Vintech Audio 1073 & 1081 are class A, all discrete, transformer balanced microphone preamplifiers with equalizers. The Vintech Audio "Dual 72" is a two channel class A, all discrete, transformer balanced microphone preamplifier. They are built with the same circuit design and components as the classic Neve 1073, 1081 and 1272 modules. Vintech have done extensive comparison tests both in the studio and at the AES show in Los Angeles and guarantee them to sound right or your money back.

The Mr. Rupert Neve designed 1073 occupies a special place in engineers' and producers' sonic palettes and imaginations. The X73 has several additions that, without changing the Neve 1073's personality or character, turn the old 1073 into a true piece of professional, stand-alone outboard gear.

Vintech Audio has been in the business of manufacturing audio gear based on vintage designs since 1997, and the X73 is the company's flagship unit. Featuring the original circuit design, the same polystyrene capacitors and the same transformers ensures that the X73 sounds exactly like the old 1073 ... back in the day, when the Neve unit was brand spanking new.

While many people love the classic Neve 1081 module because of it's versatile equalizer section, many feel that it's use of class AB amplifiers causes it to lack that certain "magic" associated with the class A amplifiers found in the Neve 1073 module. Our new "X81 Class A" features the same great microphone preamplifier as our X73, but with a more comprehensive four band equalizer with "Q" adjustment on the two mid range frequencies. We utilize the same class A amplifier designs found in the Neve 1073 module throughout our X81 Class A. The X81 has the same mic preamp as the X73, but a more powerful EQ section.

Vintech X73 vs. Vintech X73i:
(borrowed from http://www.atlasproaudio.com/x73ilowdown.html)

Well, there are five differences between them. First, the X73 and the X73i have slightly differing EQ points. The regular X73 has more points in the highs, the X73i has more points in the mids.

Second, the X73i has a 300/1200 ohm switch...the more expensive X73 does not. The 300/1200 ohm switch will yield more variety as different mics have different frequency curves and distortion amounts depending on the impedance input of the preamp.

Third, the X73i and X73 have different switches (the things sitting directly behind the knobs on the front panel). The X73i utilizes Greyhill switches, found in many of today's quality gear, like Millennia Media and Great River for example. The X73 utilizes hand soldered point to point Swiss-made Elma switches. The actual Elma switch in the X73 looks somewhat like a minature jet-engine, it's very complex and small, the labor involved in the soldering of the Elma switches takes several extra hours to complete per unit. The Elma switches themselves are very expensive. There isn't a "sound" difference between a Greyhill switch and an Elma switch.

Fourth, The X73i has 2 transformers, the X73 has three. The X73i utilizes one of the transformers twice. Essentially, one of the transformers is doing double duty, this is actually not a new practice and can be found in old Neve units. The reduced cost of having one less transformer is reflected in the price to the user.

Last, but not least, is the price tag. The X73 currently sells for quite a bit more than the X73i (both require the Vintech PSU). For many engineers, to spend the extra dollars may be a luxury, considering that they get the same, or what some consider more, with an X73i.

Given these differences, although they are slight, I find that the X73i is actually more versatile in it's midrange EQ. It is also more versatile due to the 300/1200 ohm switch which the regular X73 doesn't have.
